Volunteers begin to arrive at 8 am.

House captain Sheila takes the volunteers into the back yard, and begins to assign tasks.

First job is to clean out the back deck area, and put the garbage into the dumpster.

More junk for the dumpster.

Leasa, wife of our Rotarian Jerry, does her work enthusiastically.

More stuff?!

Yes, take it all!

Owner Bob's philosophy about his garden!

This couch is heavy!

Almost done.

This may be the last of it!

Now, let's see, what's next?

The roofer's arrive.

The tarp is first.

Thanks BT Roofing!

Vi and Bob, relax, we have plenty of volunteers today.

We'll paint the back wall first.

Can you reach that Leasa?

We have more rollers somewhere.

Another group begins painting the dining room inside.

Bobbi calls this her team!

Dining room first, then later the kitchen ceiling.

Now that the deck is cleared, let's see if we need to prune or water.

With a brush we paint those areas hard to get to with a roller.

Ta Lee, assistant House Captain, checks on volunteers.

Sheila remembers to take pictures of the progress.

Work in front seems to be going well.

I'm glad I don't have to go up on the roof!

Jerry finds some shade while painting the eaves.

Bye Bobbi, thanks for your help.

Finish the trim in the back.

Yard work supervised by Bob.

Sheila checks on progress of volunteers.

Crew finishes the sunny side of the house. Check for those 'holiday' spots where the roller misses!

Screen door trim is the last to be painted.

Roof patching continues.

Is there room for the yard clippings in that dumpster?

Levi carefully paints under the eaves.

New water heater is now installed and braced with straps. Painting continues in the dining room.

Good thing there is some shade under those eaves, it is getting hot on the sunny side of the house.

Ready now to paint the kitchen ceiling.

OK, the roofers are making progress.

Almost done with that job up there?

Time for lunch, what kind of pizza did we get?

Great job on that side of the house!

Time for a little break. Things are going well, and we can send some of our volunteers to other projects who need them.

Ta Lee takes over as House Captain when Sheila is called to go to another project. This is the last side of the house to be painted.

You're doing a good job cleaning that paint roller Jerry.

Bedroom is painted now, so we can get rid of the plastic protector.

Hallway looks brighter now.

Inside painting is complete, and plastic is no longer needed.

Last little touch up around the light in the kitchen.

We're done! Many hands make light work. With 30 volunteers things get done quickly.

Time to celebrate and party!

We get to meet other volunteers and recipients, ..

have good food ..

and live band music!

Mike is busy grilling hamburgers.

More volunteers serving the food.

James Pacheco, founder of Christmas in April, Castro Valley Area, and Past President of our Rotary Club, says thanks to all the volunteers and the "What's Up" Big Band.
